68th WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY 2015 , GENEVA SWITZERLAND, PART 4 : MORNING BRIEFING AT PALAIS DE NATION

Setiap hari bermula 18th May 2015 hingga 26th May 2015 program kami akan dimulakan dengan Briefing Session untuk semua delegations of Member States of the WHO Western Pacific Region. Morning briefing ni akan diadakan di Room VIII Palais de Nation. tak lama pun, paling lambat tak sampai sejam habis la briefing ni.

Basically briefing ni bertujuan untuk memberi informasi mengenai agenda pada hari tersebut. Pengerusi mesyuarat akan membentangkan topik2 yang akan diusulkan dalam agenda pada hari tersebut.

Untuk makluman , malaysia merupakan salah satu negara yang menjadi ahli dalam WHO Western Pacific Region ni. Malaysia telah menjadi ahli semenjak 24 April 1958..perghhh lama tu.

Regional Office untuk Western Pacific ni terletak di Manila dan ia merupakan gabungan negara-negara di Asia Pasifik dalam WHO . Ada 37 kesemuanya negara yang menjadi ahli WPRO ini.

Sedikit sebanyak fungsi dan peranan WPRO ni :-

WPRO act as the health conscience of the Region; we operate semi-autonomously with our own regional budget.

Role

Our role is to act as a catalyst and advocate for action at all levels, from local to global, on health issues of public concern. Working together with a broad spectrum of partners from all sectors of society, WHO in the Western Pacific is involved in a host of closely related public health activities, including research, databanking, evaluation, awareness raising and resource mobilization.

Purpose

Our purpose is to lead the regional response to public health issues on all fronts - medical, technical, socio-economic, cultural, legal and political - towards the achievement of WHO's global health mission.

Mission

WHO's mission is to support all countries and peoples in their quest to achieve the highest attainable level of health, defined in the WHO Constitution as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."

Dalam WPRO ni, ada 6 division, yang kesemuanya working under Regional Director iaitu Dr Shin Young-soo . Beliau telah menjawat jawatan sebagai World Health Organization's Regional Director for the Western Pacific semenjak February 2009. Enam division tersebut adalah :-

1. Communicable Diseases
2. Health Security and Emergencies
3. NCD and Health through the Life-Course
4. Health Sector Development
5. Pacific Technical Support
6. Administration and Finance
